Experience Glorious Mexico at Puerto Vallarta

There are some places that, once you visit, you want to go back tie and time again. In these days of cheap and efficient air travel, and affordable ocean cruises, it is easy to reach exotic and exciting resorts that, not that long ago, would have been available only to the very rich, so we take advantage of that opportunity and enjoy wonderful family holidays or romantic breaks in the most spectacular of settings. The only difficulty lies in choosing just where to go – but we would like to suggest Puerto Vallarta should be on your list.

Located on the beautiful Bay of Banderas, on Mexico’s Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta is a popular tourist destination, and a charming and friendly city with many fine attributes – not least the simply stunning beaches that line the bay. The abundance of Puerto Vallarta vacation rentals makes this a place where you can take the family and enjoy the convenience and privacy of a luxury villa holiday, and one where there will be something to entertain everyone, all the time. You will find that a villa makes a more attractive and cost-effective choice than a regular hotel, too.

Why Puerto Vallarta?

The stunning beaches of Puerto Vallarta are just one of the many attractions, but they are worth a mention in their own right. Some are beautiful secluded sections of coastline, such as the amazing Playa Las Caletas, while others – for example, Playa Mismaloya, are home to wonderful restaurants serving local dishes in fabulous locations. Whatever you are looking for in a beach, you will find one to suit your desires in Puerto Vallarta.

Many of the beaches are lined with palm trees which provide ample shade in the heat of the afternoon, while others offer a chance to experience the amazing clear blue waters of the bay. Indeed, diving is a must when visiting here, as you will find glorious coral reefs, underwater rock formations and an abundance of exotic, beautiful and colourful undersea wildlife that is unique to the area.

You might also want to try your hand at sea fishing, as it is a very popular sport in these parts, while sailing, surfing and a variety of other water sports can also be indulged in should you wish. The sheer variety of beach and sea activities is bewildering, and you can even enjoy watching whales in the bay when in season. Check with the local travel information outlets for the correct times, and you may be lucky to see pods of whales playing in the bay – a sight you will never forget.

Food and Drink

Of course, no visit to Mexico is complete without sampling the delicious food, which plays a large part in the culture of the country, and you must try a tequila – even if it’s only the one! Puerto Vallarta has its own local dishes that you must try, and it’s no surprise that seafood is to the fore. Grilled red snapper served in a garlic and spice sauce is a local speciality, and is quite delicious, while there is also a tradition of eating raw fish or scallops in lime juice, which tastes a lot better than the description sounds.

You will find excellent restaurants throughout the city; try those looking out over the Malecon, the paved walkway that follows the shore, or head to the Old Town area, as there are fine restaurants in both. Also, you will find places serving fresh seafood dishes on many of the beaches, and these make a great place to enjoy a meal with a view. On the beach and at taco stands you should try the local Mahi-mahi – grilled meat served on skewers with a hot sauce – in order to claim you have tasted truly unique Mexican food.

Nightlife is very much a part of a holiday in Puerto Vallarta, with many thriving and friendly bars, a number of great clubs and a variety of local music, and you can also enjoy regular concerts outdoors in the central plaza, and take a seat at one of the many street cafes and enjoy the view. It’s a wonderful place to relax, and then you can head back to your luxury accommodation and spend some quality time with each other or all the family.

Choosing your Accommodation

The choice of villas in and around Puerto Vallarta is simply amazing, and we guarantee you will find something that suits your requirements and your budget. There are villas that sleep four and those that can accommodate many more – suitable for two families, for instance – and they are surprisingly affordable. You will find that most villas are within easy walking distance of the beach and the amenities of the town, and come with excellent views.

You can choose from a range of self-catering or part-catered villas – usually two meals a day – and if the former is your preference, check out the local markets for excellent fresh produce. Your villa will likely come with outdoor and indoor cooking areas, so you are free to cook al fresco and enjoy a meal in the sun with the family. Beautifully appointed and with all the facilities you need, your Puerto Vallarta rental is a real home from home, so why not check out the many different villas available right now, and book you and your partner or family a holiday in an exotic and wonderful part of Mexico where you will be welcomed with open arms and treated to the famous local hospitality.

After you’ve finally clambered into bed, you can look forward to unwinding and recovering at one of the city’s fantastic spas. For first-class treatment, nothing comes close to the Thermae Bath Spa.
